Mayor John Fuller said city staff do not typically issue tickets and that enforcement is handled by the county sheriff’s office. “I think we have a really good relationship with the sheriff… the sheriff is pretty lenient unless it’s a constant occurrence or if there’s a complaint from a neighbor,” Fuller said, while also noting that the rules exist for safety and to allow plows to clear roads.
Council members suggested continuing dialogue with residents and exploring ideas by email; no ordinance change was proposed or voted on at the meeting.
The council asked staff to gather additional information about enforcement timing and to return with options for how the city could clarify rules or communication to residents about winter parking.
