Houston County Commission places six items on next meeting agenda, including library appointments and two budget amendments

The Houston County Commission agreed during a regular meeting to place six items on the agenda for its next scheduled meeting, including approval of Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board license fees for Houston County; two appointments to the Dothan Houston County Library Board; authorization to negotiate a contract with Wagoner Engineering to seek congressional funding; a $286,035.09 budget amendment to purchase an asphalt (patch) truck; a $426,830.69 budget amendment to replace revenue used for paving; and an award of a herbicide bid to the lowest responsive bidder.

The items matter because they involve county spending and administration. The two budget amendments together total $712,865.78 and would affect county capital equipment and road-repair budgets; the Wagoner Engineering item would authorize negotiation of a professional services contract intended to secure federal/congressional funding for county needs; and library-board appointments will fill seats on the Dothan Houston County Library system board.
