The High Plains Child Protection Court continued the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as temporary managing conservator for cause number 99576, Heidi Rodriguez, and ordered the family service plans as an order of the court.
DFPS announced that the child was doing well in placement and that service plans had been drafted and filed. DFPS reported the father is in Mexico and DFPS is working with the consulate to locate him for service and participation. The department asked the court to continue conservatorship and to make the family service plans an order of the court; the judge granted that request and set a permanency hearing for June 17, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
During the hearing, the mother expressed concerns about communications with her assigned attorney and asked whether she could change lawyers; the judge instructed the mother to contact the attorney’s office and DFPS said it would notify the attorney of the mother’s appearance and the mother’s stated difficulty reaching counsel. DFPS said it would check whether the attorney needs to file a motion to withdraw and substitute counsel.
(Ending) The court continued the department as temporary managing conservator, ordered the service plans as an order of the court, and scheduled the next hearing for June 17, 2025.
