At its Feb. 18 meeting the Hickory City Council recognized that the Hickory Elks Lodge recently honored four city employees for service to the community and country.
The mayor told the council the Elks Lodge recognized Senior Firefighter Jonathan Holden as the 2025 Exceptional Firefighter of the Year and Master Police Officer Trent Rothlin as the 2025 Exceptional Police Officer of the Year. The lodge also named Joey Corn of the Public Services Department as the 2025 Exceptional Hickory City Public Service Person of the Year.
The mayor noted that for the first time the Elks Lodge added a category this year recognizing an outstanding military service member from each branch, and said Lieutenant Commander Chad Hunsucker, the city’s airport manager, was recognized as the U.S. Navy Exceptional Military Service Person of the Year for 2025.
The mayor thanked the Elks Lodge and reiterated appreciation for the employees’ service to the community and, in Hunsucker’s case, to the nation. The remarks were delivered during the council’s matters-not-on-the-agenda portion of the meeting.
The meeting record does not show formal action associated with the recognitions; council members simply noted and thanked the lodge and the honorees.
