Missus Powers, speaking during the board president's report, said the Twinsburg Board of Education passed the second of two resolutions required to place a $97,000,000 bond levy on the May 6, 2025, ballot.
The district described the levy as a 3.84-mill request to be levied for 36 years at an interest rate of 5%. "The millage rate equates to an annual cost of $135 per $100,000 of appraised property value as designated by Summit County," Missus Powers said. The district calls the proposal the modified Tiger Legacy project.
The board and district officials said the bond proceeds would support construction of a new prekindergarten-through-six elementary school to replace Wilcox Primary School, Bizzle Elementary School and George G. Dodge Intermediate School, and would fund renovations of district athletic fields. District officials said the plan was revised after community feedback from an earlier, larger proposal.
District leaders announced a community conversation later in February to share additional details on the revised Tiger Legacy project and answer questions from residents. Missus Powers said the revised plan "better reflects the needs of our community" and that more details would be shared at that meeting.
The president's report stated the second resolution had been passed at the board's most recent meeting; board members did not debate the bond terms during the regular meeting portion transcribed here. The district will place the levy language on the May 6 ballot if required administrative steps and certifications are completed in time.
