Panel approves wording fix to clarify water‑permit language

Andrew Hagren, Division Director for the Water Appropriation Division at the Department of Water Resources, told the committee the 2019 update to the statute inadvertently referred to both an application and a permit. “House Bill 10 42 corrects the wording to make it clear that this section applies to water permits and not water permit applications,” Hagren said, and added that the change is consistent with existing law and will not affect how the statute has been applied.
No opposition or neutral agency testimony was offered and the committee voted 7 ayes, 0 nays to recommend a due pass. Senator Kessel moved the do‑pass recommendation and a second was recorded before the roll call. Senator Ingham agreed to carry the bill.
