Salama said one budget change proposal funds relocation of the agency’s Sacramento office to a new labor agency building that will house multiple departments. The second proposal would provide staffing and implementation funds for Assembly Bill 113; according to Salama the AB 113 proposal includes seven new positions and roughly $1,900,000 to cover staffing costs and Department of Justice implementation expenses. Salama told the board that budget hearings have not yet been set and that the agency will report hearing dates when they are known.
Salama also asked board members to amplify the agency’s posted vacancies on CalCareers; she said seven positions are currently posted and noted that one position (a board counsel position) closes the following day. On regulations, Salama reported that the Office of Administrative Law had been reviewing the board’s regulatory package and that the reviewer’s three‑work‑day review period was expected to end soon; she said she would update the board if anything changed.
At the start of the meeting the board approved the minutes from its Dec. 11, 2024 meeting. A motion was made and seconded and the board voice‑voted the minutes approved.
