Barbara Harmon, CEO of Footprint to Success Clubhouse, presented the organization’s model and services to the Pembroke Pines City Commission, highlighting employment supports, wellness programming and a teaching kitchen at the group’s new Pembroke Pines location.
Harmon said the clubhouse operates like a structured workday where members choose tasks and work alongside staff to learn soft skills useful for employment. She reported an employment rate of 52% among members and said the clubhouse serves about 25 members per day. Harmon also emphasized a cost advantage: she said the cost of one member visit is $55 compared with hospitalization costs she cited as $900–$1,200 per day.
A member, Curt Hanson, provided first‑person testimony describing the clubhouse’s role in his recovery and housing stability. Commissioners thanked the presenters and noted invitations to upcoming events; Commissioners said several members of the commission had toured the facility. Commissioner Hernandez invited others to a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which the presenters scheduled for a morning date (backup material in the record gives a ribbon-cutting time listed as 10 a.m. on the 28th). Speaker testimony included program descriptions for GED tutoring, digital skills training, wellness activities and job‑linkage efforts with local employers.
No formal action was taken. Commissioners and staff praised the program and encouraged partnerships between the clubhouse and city services; the presenters requested continued municipal engagement and invited commissioners to visit the clubhouse at 8201 Pembroke Road.
