Rhodes confirmed the commission has “just under $40,000” remaining for the current year; he noted larger projects (for example multi‑silo work or extensive roundabout installations) could exhaust that balance and may need to be budgeted into FY 2025–26. Several commissioners asked that the mural subcommittee and annual work‑plan subcommittee coordinate and that high‑visibility projects (gateway silos, mall stair mural) be considered early in next year’s budgeting.
A motion was made that Commissioner Ryan’s proposed mall stair mural concept (a vertical design resembling a giraffe on mall steps) be added to the next agenda for discussion and/or included in the annual work plan; that motion was seconded and accepted. Commissioners emphasized that staff will return with updated budget figures in March when the city issues next fiscal‑year funding estimates.
