The representative said the work is intended to help attract visitors, support local businesses and preserve Downtown Ellsworth's historic character.
Applications are open now and due March 14; the committee representative directed interested parties to ellsworthmaine.gov/facade for details and application materials. The Arbor Commission also welcomed a grant-funded tree steward to help update right-of-way mapping and manage grant projects, the representative added.
The announcement came during committee reports; councilors noted the program aligns with the city's business attraction and historic preservation priorities as the fiscal year budget process begins.
