House panel backs bill letting campaign funds pay for candidate security

Representative Wade Williams introduced House Bill 373 to the committee and said the measure would update state campaign finance law to permit use of campaign funds for security expenses. "So what this bill does basically is modernize campaign finance laws to allow for the protection of candidates and their loved ones," Williams said, listing examples such as alarm systems, motion detectors and security cameras.
