County health plan claims down year over year, officials report $1.1 million lower combined medical/prescription costs

At the Feb. 19 meeting, a county presenter summarized health insurance plan performance, reporting that medical claims for the plan were down about 8% (approximately $868,000) compared with the same period last year and prescription claims were down about 4%.
Combining medical and prescription activity, the presenter said the plan was about $1.1 million under last year’s level and roughly $665,000, or about 4%, under budget for the year-to-date period. Commissioners received the report by motion.
No changes to the plan were proposed at the meeting; the board’s action was to receive the report.
