The board voted to return $66,127 to the IT benefits budget after county staff said the amount had been removed from IT’s benefits account during the prior fiscal year. Budget staff described the change as tracing to an unexplained removal after the September supplement; IT later backfilled a vacant position and moved to restore the benefits funding for the current fiscal year. Budget staff said the recommendation would use ongoing general fund reserves to restore the line item so it will be funded in future fiscal years.
The board also approved a recommendation from Budget and Expense Tracking (BET) to provide $117,300 to the Election Board to cover anticipated costs for an April election. Cody Compton, who presented watch-list changes to the board, said the Election Board had tapped funds to cover a February special election and is now requesting additional funds for April. Compton said the county had retained a separate $300,000 watch‑list item in case commissioners later decide to pursue a sales-tax request to support additional election costs.
Other transfers approved included a resolution (listed in the agenda as 0417) to transfer general fund appropriations not to exceed $3,000 from District 2920, and several small interfund transfers moving funds between maintenance-and-operations, salary and benefits lines. Presenters said some moves were administrative—reclassifying budget lines to cover payroll and benefits—and the IT restoration was recommended to come from the ongoing portion of the general fund reserve rather than one-time reserve funds.
Board members asked whether the IT position removed during the prior year had been filled; staff said the position had been backfilled, though in a different role, and payroll obligations had increased accordingly. Commissioners voted to approve each item with no recorded dissent.
