Millard County commissioners voted to award a one‑year contract for third‑party professional IT services to Tech Legion Group.
County staff described a multi‑vendor review process that included interviews, written proposals and assessments by the executive team and the county attorney. Commissioners said the firms’ service offerings were broadly comparable and the decision was driven by value and budget considerations.
The contract is structured to allow flexibility: the county may purchase monthly “buckets” of support hours (the recommended starting level is 60 hours per month) or pay hourly for piecemeal work. Staff estimated that a 60‑hour monthly bucket would cost under $70,000 per year. The agreement includes a 30‑day written notice provision and a 90‑day rollover for unused support hours when notice is provided to the vendor.
County IT manager Richard Beckstrand, who is retiring, and Adam Britt (who will take on more on‑site responsibilities) participated in interviews and recommended a hybrid model with Tech Legion providing networking, monitoring and security services while an on‑site county staff member handles hands‑on tasks. Commissioners and staff said they will monitor the first year and re‑bid only if the arrangement is not effective.
The motion to approve the Tech Legion agreement passed in open session with unanimous approval. Staff were directed to finalize the statement of work that will specify the monthly bucket, device quantities and pricing.
