Pasco County public works officials told the Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 18 that a stormwater master plan due in mid‑2025 will rank the county’s most critical projects, estimate costs and propose funding strategies after record rainfall in 2024.
The workshop, led by Jason Mickle, Pasco County public works director, opened with an overview of county maintenance and capital work and a review of the 2024 storm season, which county and district speakers said produced local rain totals far above historical averages. “Our goal is 70% proactive,” Mickle said of operations that TV and clean pipe networks, maintain swales and inspect storm drainage — a county target he contrasted with a regulatory minimum of about 10% annual inspection.
