Mobile City reopens renovated pickleball courts at Stotts Park

A city staff member opened the event, saying, "Welcome to Stott's. Today is the official grand opening of our SART's Pickleball Courts. We renovated the 4 courts that were on-site." The staff member invited players to return to the site now that construction is complete.
A city official at the ribbon-cutting said Councilman John Williams "started this project prior to me being in office and I've sort of seen it through." The official said the courts were renovated using capital improvement funds, adding, "that's what we're supposed to be doing with capital improvement funds, is listening to people and meeting their needs as far as infrastructure, and that's what we did with this fund."
Officials said the courts were heavily used before the renovation and encouraged players who left during construction to return. No formal vote or council action was recorded at the event.
The reopening returns four on-site courts to public play. City representatives and local players attended the short ceremony and began using the courts after remarks concluded.
