Council approves series of zone changes, plats, cable and interlocal agreements

Spanish Fork City Council on Feb. 18 approved a package of land-use ordinances and preliminary plats, a multi-jurisdictional corridor study interlocal agreement, a mutual-aid agreement, and changes to SFCN television rates.

The actions included zone changes and development agreements that cleared the way for new residential and commercial development, re-approval of a townhome preliminary plat that expired in 2024, approval of a new subdivision preliminary plat, and administrative appointments to the Planning Commission. The council also approved rate increases for the Spanish Fork Communications Network (SFCN) and an interlocal agreement to study the Nebo Belt Loop corridor. A mutual aid agreement with Salem Fiber was approved as well.

Why it matters: The land-use approvals authorize near-term subdivision activity and clarify the city’s regulatory agreements for several specific properties. The SFCN rate increases pass through higher programming costs to subscribers and are paired with a lower-cost streaming tier the city is offering. The interlocal and mutual-aid agreements formalize regional planning and technical cooperation on fiber and roadway planning.
