Facilities report: three completed projects returned savings to district reserve funds

Facilities director staff (Prince and Birch) reported the following project statuses and forecasted savings: Blackwater Middle School loop road completed with an estimated savings of about $169,000; Myrtle Beach High School auditorium remodel complete with estimated savings of about $52,000 (subject to a planned sound-board enclosure that may reduce net savings); and Aynor High School auditorium completed with an estimated forecasted savings of about $660,000 after creative design work reduced expected code upgrade costs.
Staff said budgets will remain open until final closeout to address any remaining items and that, once confirmed, savings will roll into the district's uncommitted residual funds for future priorities. Board members thanked the facilities team for cost containment; one board member asked whether similar savings were expected on a Daisy Elementary project, and staff said savings are likely but smaller because additional bathroom and other work were required.
No formal board action was required for the quarterly facilities report; the presentation was informational and staff answered members' questions about closeout timing and how savings will be handled.
