San Juan County commissioners approved a contract update for roof repairs at the Bridal Community Center after county facilities staff told the panel the contractor revised its approach following a site assessment.
Sam, the county facilities director, said the scope and cost changed after additional staff from the roofing company assessed the building. Sam apologized that the final contract copy was not included in the packet because the county attorney had requested a mailing-address change shortly before the meeting. He said the change requested by the attorney was limited to an address edit and did not alter the technical work.
Sam described the roof as a membrane system that had been partially refastened by maintenance staff to prevent uplift while the county sought a vendor. The county had followed up with multiple contractors during and after the pandemic to secure bids; the new contractor will proceed with a slightly different repair plan that increases the contract price. Sam told the commission the new work should begin in roughly two weeks and take a couple of weeks to complete.
A motion to approve the updated contract in the amount of $10,820 passed by voice vote. Commissioners asked for a hard copy of the revised contract to be emailed and for the county attorney to confirm the address change before final signature.
