Council approves zoning text change to allow larger neighborhood entry signs in Abacoa

Staff presentation and rationale: Scott Thatcher of the town’s planning and zoning department said the change responds to a specific request from the New Haven neighborhood, which designed a new entry wall and sign that would exceed the current 4-square-foot limit. Thatcher said the zoning text amendment would apply to all neighborhoods within Abacoa; denser parts of Abacoa already have higher allowances under other code provisions.

Planning commission review: The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval by a 7–0 vote. The Abacoa property owners’ assembly reviewed and approved the proposed sign change.
