Wetumpka council approves electronic vote-counting ordinance, approves meeting relocation and paving projects; appoints city clerk for election duties

The Wetumpka City Council on Feb. 3 approved multiple routine items including an ordinance establishing use of electronic vote-counting devices for 2025 elections, a change of meeting location and a motion to proceed with the city’s 2025 paving program. Council members also appointed Tiffany Robinson, the city clerk, to assume duties for preparing the official voter list for the upcoming election and held a first reading on a flooring project at the Wetumpka Municipal Airport’s FBO building.

The council’s most substantive actions were the second readings and approvals of two ordinances. Council members voted to adopt an ordinance establishing the use of electronic vote-counting devices for the 2025 city elections and any subsequent elections covered by the ordinance. The council also approved an amendment to the city’s order of procedure to relocate regular council meetings to 408 South Main Street, with the move to take effect at the next meeting on March 3.
