Planning staff told the commission the strip of right of way identified for vacation was surplus to the city’s needs following completed improvements on Acacia Avenue and that referral notices to utility providers returned no objections. Staff recommended the commission find the abandonment consistent with the general plan and forward the recommendation to the City Council.
No public opposition was raised during the commission’s public hearing. Commissioners discussed the request briefly, then moved to recommend approval. A motion to approve the resolution (recorded as Resolution No. 25.2 in the commission discussion) passed on a roll-call vote of 5-0.
If the City Council adopts the vacation, the city will formally convey the abandoned right-of-way consistent with municipal procedures and any standard processing requirements; staff will forward the commission’s recommendation to council for final action.
