Saint Bernard board recognizes retirees, notes personnel changes and bus-hiring progress

At the Feb. 18, 2025 meeting, the Saint Bernard Parish School Board heard a personnel report from Natalie Albers, supervisor of personnel, that included retirements, new hires and staffing plans for the coming year.
Albers told the board that retirements recognized at the committee meeting included Diane Smith, Denise Lips and Deborah Taylor; the board also noted a newly listed retiree, Kirk Buck, a high school teacher and coach at Chalmette High School who is set to retire in May. "We wanna thank Kirk for his many years of service at Chalmette High School," a board member said during the recognition.
Albers and board members also discussed recent hires in transportation. The transcript records four individuals who moved into full-time bus-driver positions, with start dates listed as August and September of this year; the board noted the district had previously struggled to find drivers and continues to train candidates. Staff said those interested could contact Brandy Tucker in transportation for training and assistance to obtain a commercial driver's license.
The personnel packet and minutes were presented as informational and the board offered remarks of appreciation to retirees and staff. No separate formal vote or amendment to employment terms was recorded on the personnel changes item during the meeting.
