Bryan City Council voted Feb. 17 to adopt an amended annual appropriation ordinance for the 2025 fiscal year, declaring an emergency to authorize immediate spending of funds recently accepted by the city and insurance proceeds from a vehicle accident.
Ordinance No. 5-20-25 provides for annual appropriations for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2025, and amends the existing appropriation to authorize expenditure of funds accepted by the city and insurance money received after a city vehicle owned by the Street Department was involved in an accident. The ordinance was presented by the Clerk-Treasurer and described by staff as an amended appropriation item that would allow Parks and other departments to access recently accepted monies.
Council suspended the rules and moved to adopt the ordinance under the emergency declaration. The motion carried by unanimous vote.
Council members noted the specific damaged vehicle was a Street Department pickup rather than a police cruiser. The adoption allows administrative staff to appropriate and expend the funds as described in the ordinance.
