The Murfreesboro Planning Commission on Feb. 19 voted to schedule a public hearing for March 5 on a rezoning application that would change two parcels along East Street and West Street from RM‑16 to RS‑4.
Staff said the rezoning request, filed by applicants Elijah Montgomery and Nancy Morris, is intended to correct an existing encroachment: a single‑family dwelling at 615 E. Street was built across the shared property line between the two parcels. The rezoning would also allow the applicant to construct a single‑family dwelling on the parcel that fronts West Street. Staff recommended scheduling the public hearing because the request is consistent with the area’s existing single‑family character and the city’s future‑land‑use designation of an "auto‑urban" characteristic for the location.
Action: The commission voted to set the public hearing for March 5; staff will publish hearing notices and provide the commission with the staff report and public comments prior to that date.
