The LaSalle Finance Committee voted unanimously to donate $300 to the Illinois Valley Baseball League, the committee decided during its meeting. Alderman Jerry Jepsen moved the donation and Alderman Bassettor seconded; roll call recorded unanimous approval.
The donation funds follow prior year contributions of $250 in 2023 and 2024 to local youth baseball programs. Alderman Jepsen said, “I'll go ahead and make the motion we donate $300 to the Illinois Valley Baseball League.” Committee members discussed that the league has combined teams from LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby and Utica and that a $300 contribution would secure a “City of LaSalle” sign at each of three ballfields.
Committee members confirmed the vote by name. Alderman Bassettor, Alderman Reynolds, Alderman Laverre, Alderman Jepsen, Alderman Herndon and Alderman Crane each voted “aye.” The motion passed.
The committee did not set additional conditions on the donation during the meeting. The committee noted the league’s consolidation and field locations (LaSalle, Peru and Oglesby) but did not detail any follow-up reporting requirements or a funding source beyond the vote recorded.
