Division of Financial Management seeks one financial analyst to bolster budget and reporting capacity

The Division of Financial Management (DFM) asked the Joint Finance‑Appropriations Committee for one ongoing financial management analyst senior position and modest equipment funding to strengthen statewide budgeting, reporting and financial oversight.
Christopher Lahoset, Legislative Services budget analyst, summarized DFM’s request: $124,400 total and one full‑time, nonclassified analyst position with an estimated base salary of $85,500, funded from the indirect cost recovery fund; a $5,800 one‑time computer and onboarding cost; and an ITS‑recommended IT replacement package of about $21,100 (network switches and related items). The request would increase DFM’s FTP cap from 22 to 23.
DFM Administrator Laurie Wolf told the committee the office experienced turnover during a recent leadership transition but is currently fully staffed. Wolf said the requested position will live on the financial side of DFM and is intended to improve reporting and visibility into state financials and support LUMA rollout and other statewide systems. "I would not be asking for this position if I didn't think it was going to really improve our ability to deliver better in both the financial fiscal policy implementation and oversight as well as our budgeting process," Wolf said.
The committee heard that DFM and Legislative Services will continue to coordinate on reporting and that the position is intended to deliver better transparency and monitoring of executive‑branch budgets. No formal committee vote was recorded during the presentation.
