District to seek joint fuel bid, credits returned on electrical work; summer window project and mechanical fixes planned

Operations staff briefed the Whitehall-Coplay operations committee on Feb. 10 about several facilities projects and upcoming procurements.
The district plans to participate in a multi‑district KPN fuel bid to procure diesel and gasoline; staff attached the bid documentation and said they will run the cooperative procurement and return bid results to the board at a later meeting.
Mike Sanders, operations project manager, reported three active projects: mechanical ductwork corrections at the Education Center (to address out‑of‑code ductwork in an existing locker room area); an electrical contractor credit from Wind Gap Electric for unused material allowance on the new Gockley Elementary; and planned environmental abatement work ahead of a window‑replacement contract at Steckle and the middle school. Sanders said the lowest environmental‑abatement bidder was EHC, a contractor the district has used previously, and that abatement work will lead the site demolition work before new windows are installed this summer.
Board members toured the Education Center; staff said the district expects to occupy that building soon and that minor punch‑list items remain. Staff also thanked maintenance crews for snow removal and noted salt deliveries for the week.
