The Morton Village Board approved a motion to waive formal bidding and accept a proposal from Total Petroleum Service Company of Washington to install two Wayne Select fleet dispensers and an OPW fuel‑management controller at the Penn Street Fuel Depot at a cost of $57,975.
The Director of Public Works described the existing pumps as outdated and said the new system will allow more key fobs and better management; he noted the village, the school district and the park district use the depot and that We Care is a major user. The director said Total Petroleum Service has long serviced the village’s equipment and that the company would also provide ongoing management and support. He acknowledged that the village did not solicit multiple proposals and said the choice was driven by the vendor’s long history of service and familiarity with the system.
A trustee asked for the reason to waive formal bidding; the director responded that Total Petroleum Service “pretty much services the entire area” and that the village would likely call the same company for engineering and ongoing service. The board then voted by roll call to approve the waiver and the contract. Recorded votes included: Perrett — yes; Newman — yes; Meadow — yes; Leach — yes; Hilliard — yes; Flinger — yes. The motion carried.
