No job is too big or too small for Carrie. She has no problem doing things even on her own time at home that I'm sure she's not logging into her volunteer hours." The staff member also credited Bethel with helping to establish the school's PTO and serving in leadership roles.
Carrie Bethel, who identified herself as a volunteer and a mother of three children in elementary and middle school, told attendees, "My name is Carrie Bethel. I volunteer, my time here at Shady Hills Elementary School. I am a mother of 3 children in elementary and middle school, and I enjoy spending my time here, a lot seeing the kids. My favorite thing is being able to see the kids. They all recognize me." She described the personal rewards of volunteering and the chance to see students' day-to-day activities.
The staff member added: "Carrie, we appreciate you so much here at Shady Hills Elementary. We cannot thank you enough for starting with us at ground 0 on our PTO. You have served as our president, as our vice president. You have helped build that connection with our community, and we truly cannot thank you enough for that." In closing remarks, a speaker encouraged other parents to register and complete required background checks, saying, "Sign up online, get your fingerprints done, and take some action because it's it's rewarding."
Speakers framed the recognition as both gratitude for sustained service and an informal recruitment push for more volunteers to support classrooms, fundraising and PTO activities. No formal votes or policy actions were recorded during the remarks.
