Penny for Pasco oversight committee reports completion of major projects, second penny closed without deficit

Committee member Skorakko reported that the committee made several site visits during the year and that a large Gulf High School construction project, delayed by supply-chain issues, reached completion and had a dedication ceremony. Skorakko said committee members monitored progress “to make sure that the people's money was being spent wisely.”
The committee acknowledged long-serving member Gary Evans, who retired in October and moved out of state. Skorakko said new members were added last year and that the committee balances long experience and fresh perspectives.
Skorakko also told the board, “We have finished as of January 1 the second penny. And, there's no deficit.” Board members thanked the committee for providing independent oversight and for enabling the district to report “promises made, promises kept” to voters when seeking future penny referenda.
