Division of Financial Management requests one analyst position to bolster financial oversight

The Division of Financial Management (DFM) requested one additional financial management analyst position and several minor IT replacement items during the Joint Finance‑Appropriations Committee hearing.
Christopher LaHozet, budget analyst, Legislative Services Office, explained that the DFM budget bureau supports the governor in budget development and monitoring and that the office's FTP cap is 22 positions. DFM asked for one non‑classified financial management analyst senior position with a proposed base salary of $85,500; the total ongoing cost in the request is about $118,100 (plus $5,800 one‑time for computer/equipment). The request would be paid from the agency's indirect cost recovery fund.
Laurie Wolf, DFM administrator, told the committee the office experienced turnover in the prior year but said positions were filled and that the new analyst position would improve reporting, transparency and fiscal oversight, particularly as the state implements LUMA and addresses reporting improvements.
Why it matters: DFM described the position as a modest investment intended to strengthen financial reporting and monitoring of state agencies and appropriations.
Additional details: DFM also requested $21,100 for ITS‑recommended IT replacement items (network switches) and said the requested analyst position would support both budget and financial operations.
