Committee members also debated whether to pursue a special town meeting to avoid delaying the comprehensive plan until November. Participants noted special meetings are possible but carry additional cost and, depending on the town's secret-ballot process, may not provide the public-discussion opportunity some members want because the town uses a ballot vote rather than an in-person deliberative session for certain warrant items.
Attendance problems were the immediate reason the meeting ended: one participant counted four people present at the start of the session and later confirmed members who normally attend were unavailable or had left. Members discussed improving pre-meeting communication and running a poll 24 hours before a meeting to confirm availability. With the lack of a quorum, committee members agreed there would be no formal votes or actions at this session.
