Wagoner County tables audits and several capital projects, staff to seek additional proposals

The Wagoner County Board of County Commissioners voted to table several agenda items and directed staff to gather more information.
County staff told the board that Sam Alexander, the auditor originally contracted to perform audits for the School Development Authority, had not responded to calls and had not completed the work. The county said the authority’s funding had not been audited and that no payments had been made to Alexander; staff requested permission to solicit proposals from other qualified governmental audit firms. The board voted to table the item while staff returns with pricing and options.
Commissioners also tabled multiple capital items: county roof projects, waterproofing of the exterior of the courthouse, and the planning-and-zoning vehicle purchase. For the vehicle request, commissioners asked staff to ensure that vehicle diagnostics could be run — including swapping batteries and hooking up diagnostic equipment — before returning the item to the agenda.
During discussion of audits, staff noted that governmental audits require firms from the Board of Accountancy list; the board asked staff to return with qualified options and pricing.
