Goshen Central School District board appoints Tom Bongiovi interim superintendent

Goshen Central School District Board of Education members voted June 25 to appoint Tom Bongiovi as interim superintendent under an employment agreement dated June 25, 2025. The appointment runs from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, and the board authorized the board president to execute the agreement.

Bongiovi thanked the board for the opportunity and said he plans to work "in collaboration with the Board of Education and to work as a team with the administration, faculty, and staff to continue to move the coaching forward in the positive direction that we are already on." He said he will begin July 1 and that his "door is always open," adding, "I can't guarantee that I'm gonna remember your name on the first try." He described his primary personal role as a husband and father and said he intends to use the summer to "sharpen the saw" and prepare for the year ahead.

The motion to authorize the president to sign the employment agreement was introduced by John Ashley. The board then voted in favor; no opposition was voiced on the record. The agreement specifies the start date as July 1, 2025, and an end date of June 30, 2026. The board closed the special meeting and held a short welcome reception in the administration building after adjournment.
