City picks consultants for INDOT HSIP sign upgrades and Pine Lake Ave pedestrian crossings

For pedestrian safety improvements on Pine Lake Avenue — two locations including an area near a Dairy Queen and a mid‑block crossing nearer the park department — staff recommended and the board approved United Consulting as the high‑scoring firm. Staff said the Pine Lake project is coordinated with a separate INDOT project and is intended to provide safer crossing options where sidewalks and crossing opportunities are limited.
Board members noted the projects will focus on regulatory sign reflectivity and pedestrian crossing design; staff will continue coordination with INDOT and property owners where right‑of‑way or mid‑block solutions are involved. The motions to recommend contracting passed on voice votes.
