Human Resources Director Demetrius Mines briefed supervisors on employee programs and benefits, announcing an expanded employee assistance program (EAP) with SupportLink and other changes to benefits and HR systems.
Mines said the city has secured an EAP through SupportLink that provides 24/7 counselor access, virtual counseling options including text, and resources for employees and dependents. He said a webinar for supervisors and managers will be scheduled and that employees will receive account/setup information.
Mines also said the Emerging Leaders Academy completed its first cohort and the city expects to begin a second six‑session cohort in April 2025; employees interested in cohort 2 must submit a letter describing career impact to apply. He reminded staff to review updated job descriptions and, if they wish to appeal, to submit a classification appeal form to HR by Friday, Feb. 28; appeals will be reviewed with Condrey and Associates, the city’s compensation and classification consultant.
On performance management, Mines said the city implemented a new system, NEOGOV, to automate annual evaluations; employees may complete an optional self‑evaluation and are eligible for 2–4% pay adjustments based on approved evaluations. He noted the city’s health‑center vendor Everside Health has transitioned to Marathon Health and that records and appointments will move to Marathon’s system.
Mines described a lowered wellness incentive requirement for 2025: employees who complete biometric screening and an annual physical by Oct. 31, 2025, will receive a payroll deduction reduction valued at $750 plus a $50 gift card (total $800) and spouses covered on the plan must meet the same requirements. He also reminded employees the CityGym remains open 24/7 and that the city health center is available to employees and covered dependents at no cost.
Ending: Mines invited questions and said HR will circulate further details, webinar schedules and enrollment instructions in coming days.
