County leases SUNY Fredonia Williams Center for 2025 Senior Expo to accommodate larger crowd

Chautauqua County’s Human Services Committee authorized a one-day lease of SUNY Fredonia’s Williams Center for the 2025 Senior Expo at a cost of $575, county staff said during the Feb. 19 meeting.
Dana Corwin, director at the county Office for Aging Services, said the event — held annually to mark Older Americans Month — has grown since the pandemic and staff expect to host more than 800 older adults at the Williams Center. Corwin said the $575 charge breaks down to $375 for rental and a $200 IT fee.
Corwin said the event will be open to people of any age, include a vendor fair of roughly 80 providers, and offer demonstrations and breakout sessions on topics ranging from Medicare to orthopedic care and scams. Lunch will be free to some attendees who qualify for the county’s dining-out program and use the CHQ aging card; otherwise, there will be a cash fee for lunch unless it is sponsored.
Corwin said staff are seeking sponsors and expect the event’s costs to be covered in the 2025 budget without a budget amendment, though she acknowledged county costs remain possible if sponsorships do not materialize. The committee approved the lease by voice vote.
