Highway staff ask commissioners to score consultant proposals for federally funded Bridge 162 project

Boone County Highway Director Nick Flora told commissioners on Feb. 3 that Bridge 162 is a federally funded construction project (80/20 funding) that requires full-time construction inspection and the selection of a consultant via a scoring process.
Flora said the county had received 14 submittals for construction-inspection services and that county practice is for a board member to help review and score proposals in coordination with highway staff. A commissioner volunteered to serve as the reviewer and scorer and Flora left the submittals and score sheets with the board for review.
Flora also asked the commissioners to execute title sheets for a countywide striping/striping-title project and for a small-structure community-crossings project (EA 021 on Pineview Drive off 90 Sixth Street) so the highway department could proceed to a stage 3 plan submittal and an expected letting in April. The board moved and approved execution of the plan sheets during the meeting.
Flora noted the county’s membership in the Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority (CIRTA/SIRDA) and that the authority’s executive director may be invited to a future meeting to explain services and membership benefits to the commissioners.
