Plan Commission recommends comp plan change to allow single-family homes at Christian Drive site

The Oshkosh Plan Commission on Feb. 19 recommended approval of a comprehensive land use map amendment to change a 5.5-acre property at the east end of Christian Drive from "general commercial" to "light density residential," by voice vote and subsequent roll call (6-0).
Staff explained the city owns the parcel, which was recently divided from a nearby property at 3483 Jackson Street through a certified survey map, and currently is zoned Suburban Mixed Use. The surrounding area is predominantly residential; staff said a light-density residential designation would permit single-family development and align the future zoning district with the future land-use map.
Staff presented a conceptual plat for the property and noted the next procedural steps would be rezoning followed by preliminary plat and final plat approvals. There was no public comment on the amendment. The commission adopted the staff report findings and recommended approval to proceed with rezoning and platting under the light-density residential designation.
Because the action was a comprehensive-land-use amendment only, future approvals (rezone and plat) will return through the standard review process and will be subject to public notice and technical review.
