The committee approved routine environmental-monitoring contracts and scheduled a full-legislature presentation of lake-data results.
The committee moved and approved annual contracts with the Community Science Institute for harmful algal bloom (HAB) monitoring and a contract renewal for the Awasco buoy monitoring program. Committee members bundled routine annual resolutions and approved them by voice vote. Committee members also scheduled a presentation by Dr. Lisa Kleckner on 2024 buoy results at the full legislative meeting on the 27th.
"This resolution is to do her contract again for the 20 25 milligrams to the basic unit that monitoring and data going," a staff member said while introducing the buoy contract resolution (PL4). The committee voted to approve PL4; members noted that Dr. Kleckner will present 2024 buoy results at the full legislature meeting.
Why it matters: These contracts fund ongoing water-quality monitoring in county lakes; monitoring data supports public-health advisories, environmental management and grant-funded research.
Ending: The volunteer and vendor monitoring contracts were reauthorized; Dr. Kleckner's presentation of the 2024 buoy results will appear at the full-legislature meeting for broader review.
