County clerk outlines fee-based revenue options, operations and move to workforce development center

Muldrow said December retention for DMV was "just shy of $50,000" and reported a year-to-date total figure of $584,750.30 for 2024. He told legislators the current year-to-date figure falls short of what his predecessor budgeted for revenue and noted concerns about staffing losses that could hamper services the office provides, including assistance with identification at the county jail.
Muldrow said he has identified three options—two pursued through the clerk's office and one through DMV—that other counties use to increase revenue. He said, to his understanding, all three options would require legislative action either as a resolution or a local law (local law would require two meetings). He offered to bring details and comparative information from similar counties to the next meeting so lawmakers could consider resolutions to implement changes.
On facilities and operations, Muldrow and county staff described equipment and network work to move employment and training into the new workforce development center at 63 Genesee Street. IT staff reported wired and wireless connectivity would support county needs in the conference room and said the move is on track with a target occupancy date in January (staff said the goal was the first part of the month) and a ribbon-cutting planned for Jan. 30 at 1 p.m. County staff said some abatement work in the building basement will briefly pause activity but overall network cabling and electrical work are largely on schedule.
