The committee authorized filling multiple motor equipment operator (MEO) positions in the county highway department (PPW3, PPW4, PPW5) to restore full staffing for snowplow and other highway operations; members confirmed two vacancies were the result of terminations and one was budgeted earlier. The committee approved the 2025 paving list and the 2025 surface treatment list; both were described as estimates subject to spring adjustments.
PPW7 authorized a consulting agreement for engineering services for the Phillips Road bridge replacement to develop design estimates and set up a capital plan for ARPA funds included in the budget. Committee members said the design cost is budgeted in the capital plan.
PPW8 and PPW9 authorized purchasing specified highway equipment and trucks; several purchases are expected to be reimbursed through the CHIPS program. Committee members noted lead times for ordered trucks from prior years and the need to encumber budgeted funds appropriately.
PPW12 proposed creating a principal environmental planner position and abolishing an associate planner position; a committee member asked for additional personnel-committee review because of questions about supervisory duties and classification. The committee voted to table PPW12 and send it to the personnel committee for further discussion.
