The Logansport City Board of Public Works and Safety on Feb. 19 approved $831,446.94 in claims, three professional services contracts and multiple departmental reports during its regular meeting.
The board voted unanimously to approve minutes from its Feb. 12, 2025 meeting and to accept claims totaling $831,446.94. The claims package included payroll of $288,705.51, a set of claims totaling $289,968.57, a CDBG grant claim for $109,795.09 and a Republic Services claim for $115,588.94, among other items.
The board approved a $4,000 professional services agreement with Indiana Landmarks to continue work with the city’s historic preservation commission. The board also approved a professional services agreement with Innovative Concepts Audio and Video for network wiring and AV work at the city’s new clubhouse (contract amount not specified in the record).
Also approved was a $20,000 contract with Night Magic Displays to provide fireworks for a city event; the contract record notes an insurance increase of about $1,800 this year attributed to higher insurer rates following recent large wildfires. The fireworks vendor’s contract requires $10,000,000 in liability insurance for the event.
The parks department’s monthly report for January 2025 was accepted. The parks report listed progress on the clubhouse (roof, exterior walls and interior studs installed), plans for a maintenance barn, completed ADA assessments at Spencer, Riverside, the pool and other facilities, recent equipment deliveries and personnel actions including hiring a pool manager and assistant.
The board accepted the code enforcement weekly report and voted to deny two requests for city‑led property cleanup: 201 East Miami Avenue and 716 North Fifth Street. In both cases, staff reported the properties had been cleaned and that the owner had taken required steps since prior notices.
All recorded motions during the meeting were approved by the three voting members present: Chris Martin, Levi Jones and Jacob Palmasol.
The meeting ended after board member comments and an adjournment vote.
