On Jan. 22, 2025, the Allegany County Board of Legislators voted to approve the county audit, which recorded a grand total of $5,213,968.47 across funds.
The audit presented departmental totals including general government support ($288,567.47), education ($241,787.40), public safety ($178,471.20), health ($332,932.60), and a reported grand total of $5,213,968.47. The board recorded payroll and taxes totaling $1,316,347.85; capital funds totaled $774,470.42; other funds totaled $658,057.84.
A motion to approve the audit was made by Legislator Ricky and seconded by Legislator Habby. During discussion, a legislator asked whether an online line item of $115,545 for the jail represented salaries. A staff member replied that salaries were not included and that the figure represented bills from 2024 and 2025. Treasurer Ross later said, "The bulk of that $115,000 — a hundred and $2,000, almost a hundred and $3,000 — is the contract we have for the prime care, medical for the jail facility." The transcript records that the $150 item for the IDA agreement had been pulled from the audit.
The board then proceeded to roll-call the approval. Recorded votes in the transcript show the following members voting yes: Curran; Hanchett; Harris; Havey; Healy; Ricky; Rickett Swails; Rue; Rumpelt; Stocken; Barnes; Burdick. The clerk announced "12 yes, 3 absent." The motion was approved.
