House Bill 122, which would repeal the state licensure requirement for glamour photography, was sent to the House floor with a do-pass recommendation by the House Business Committee on Feb. 17.
Representative Jeff Ehlers, the sponsor, told the committee that glamour photography licensure was created in 2018 and that "there are currently 2 licensed glamour photographers in Idaho." He said DOPL records show no consumer complaints in the last five years for this category.
Representative Birch said she supported advancing HB 122 and distinguished it from the earlier makeup-artist proposal by noting that glamour photography does not present the same personal-health risks as cosmetic procedures that touch sensitive areas. The committee opened for public testimony but no one from the public signed up to speak.
Representative Barbieri formally moved to send House Bill 122 to the floor with a do-pass recommendation; the committee approved the motion by voice vote.
Supporters described the repeal as a deregulation step for an activity that already commonly occurs without state licensing. The committee approved advancing the bill to the House.
