Lee County commissioners approved a budgeted contract to renovate the North Fort Myers shuffleboard courts after a walk‑on item and brief public comment from players and park staff.
Commissioner Hammond introduced the walk‑on item and noted the project had been in the budget for several years. Players and community leaders addressed the board, thanked commissioners and parks staff and described the courts as a long‑standing recreational resource. One longtime player said the renovation was a "dream come true" and thanked the commissioner for making the improvement happen.
The board moved, seconded and approved the contract item after brief comments and public appreciation. Staff said the project will proceed and that the parks department will coordinate scheduling and construction details with users of the facility.
