Advocate urges $2.4 million to continue and expand SASH for All pilot

Representative Emily Krasnow asked the House Appropriations Committee on Feb. 19 to fund $2.4 million to continue and expand the SASH for All pilot program. Krasnow requested $400,000 to sustain the existing pilot in Brattleboro and $2 million to expand into areas of highest need including Bennington, Rutland, Central Vermont, Burlington and the Northeast Kingdom.
Krasnow said SASH for All builds on the established SASH (Support and Services at Home) model and uses a team‑based approach—wellness nurse, SASH coordinator and a mental‑health clinician—to help families define wellness goals, address crises and prevent homelessness. She said the pilot serves roughly 250 Vermonters currently and that expansion would reach more than 1,200 adults and families.
Krasnow noted the pilot is funded presently by a three‑year grant from M&T Bank and a one‑time Agency of Human Services grant and that the governor’s recommended budget did not include the requested continuation or expansion. She urged the committee to fund at least the $400,000 continuation amount so current participants do not lose services.
