The Community High School District 94 Board of Education voted to approve a set of new and updated administrative job descriptions and an updated organizational chart for the 2025–26 school year at its February meeting.
The reorganization introduces cabinet-level positions titled “Executive Director” (executive director of operations and safety; executive director of professional learning and pathways; director of culture and climate; director of multilingual and multicultural services, and others), and converts some roles (for example, assistant director of special education) to a 10‑month work calendar. The organizational chart is effective July 1, 2025.
Board members raised questions during discussion about the timing of approving a structural reorganization while the district’s strategic plan process is still concluding. One member asked whether approval should wait for final strategic-plan details; administrators responded that the organizational changes are aligned with the strategic plan’s direction and that the chart will be “lockstep” with the plan. Another member asked whether the use of the title “Executive Director” is typical; administration said the title is used in other districts and provides a cabinet-level delineation without the connotations of “assistant superintendent.”
Board members also asked whether bilingual (Spanish/English) fluency would be required for some roles; the administration clarified that the job descriptions encourage fluency but do not impose a language requirement. A board member asked about the MTSS acronym; administration defined MTSS as “multi-tiered systems of supports,” a formal approach to academic and social‑emotional interventions across Tier 1–3 levels and said oversight for MTSS would be assigned to the Director of Climate and Culture.
Several board members expressed concern about staff consultation. The superintendent said administrative-level input was gathered and that the draft was shared anonymously with staff after the Committee of the Whole meeting; named assignments will be circulated after board approval, with follow-up meetings planned with affected departments.
On the roll call for the job-description approval, one board member recorded an abstention (transcribed as “Mister Nigo”); the motion carried nevertheless. The organizational chart vote recorded the same abstention and passed, with the chart effective July 1, 2025.
Ending: The board directed administration to communicate the finalized organizational chart with staff and to hold follow-up meetings. The administration indicated affected employees would be notified after the board action.
