Two Rivers resident urges bus route to Valders, longer Saturday hours for Maritime Metro Transit

At the council's public-input period, resident Jim Bob Scrut of 1800 Jefferson Street, Two Rivers, urged the city to consider extending Maritime Metro Transit service to Valders and to expand Saturday service hours.
"I ride on the city bus, the maritime metro transit," Scrut said. He described a prior route that served Holy Family College (which closed around 2020) and said the nearest current stop to Valders is now by Extra Tech Plastics, about 8.25 miles away. "If there was, like, a 1 or 2 runs every day, maritime metro transit would've run from Manitowoc to Valder's," he said, and suggested Saturday hours be extended to run from about 9 a.m. until 5 or 6 p.m.
Council staff acknowledged the comment during public input; no formal motion or referral to staff was made during the meeting.
Why it matters: transit routing and hours affect seniors, workers and residents without regular access to private vehicles. Scrut framed his request as one that would improve access to local businesses and services for riders who depend on fixed-route transit.
